LEMOND GROUP CYCLING FOUNDATION TRAINING (8 Hours)
This instructor workshop is a full-day comprehensive education program that that is designed directly from the innovations of Greg LeMond. It provides practical "cycling based" training for learning the fundamentals of group indoor cycling, but with particular attention to finer details that will prepare you to be a champion teacher! The primary emphasis of this course is to give you the tools to teach an effective, safe and fun indoor cycling class.
You will learn:
- How to lead a group cycling class for all fitness levels
- Proper bike fit - from the quick fit to the detailed fit
- Correct body positions for cycling and instructor cueing tips
- Dynamic breakdown of the pedal stroke for better power and speed
- Practical cycling drills that improve pedaling technique
- Class formats and safety issues
- Integrating music rhythms to the riding profiles
- Practical ways to monitor exercise intensity with Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE)
Participants will receive:
- LeMond Group Cycling Instructor Manual
- Detailed Foundation Program Outline, including (5) cycling class workouts
- Certificate of Achievement
- Continuing Education Credits: 0.8 ACE and 7.25 AFAA
LEMOND GROUP CYCLING ADVANCED TRAINING (7 Hours)
Prerequisite: LeMond Group Cycling Foundation Training or other cycle instruction program training.
A 7-hour advanced educational program offering seasoned instructors the cutting edge in group indoor cycling. This course will enhance your knowledge of integrating cadence with work load and how to determine heart rate ranges to achieve specific fitness goals. Goals are based on resistance applied, RPM range, and intensity targeted within the cycling drills in order to create solid class design. Heart rate monitors are worn throughout the practical session.
This cycling training course provides:
- Class design using the Pilotþ (if available) - cadence, music, resistance, intensity factors
- Cadence drills for improving pedaling speed, strength & endurance
- Basic Physiology of HR training
- Training Target Heart Rate - Determining VO2Max in relation to HR and RPE
- HR terminology - understanding steady state, max steady state, ventilation and lactate threshold
- How to teach various cycling intervals - defined and specific for fitness goals
Instructors will receive:
- LeMond Advanced Group Cycling Guidebook
- Group Cycling class profiles specifically focused on cadence/ heart rate integration
- Certificate of Achievement
- Training Target Heart Rate - Determining VO2Max in relation to RPE and HR measurements
- Continuing Education Credits: 0.7 ACE and 6.75 AFAA
